ELA

In ELA we have been studying the dropping of the atomic bomb and the affects it left on the Japanese people. When the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan many were killed instantly ans those those that were not killed were greatly affected. People lost family members, homes, buisnesses all in a matter of seconds. Their lives had to be rebuilt from the ground up.
I learned that the bomb was so strong that within a one-kilometer radius that one single flash contained enough thermal energy to evaporate some ones internal organs. Wooden buildings, house hold pets, telegraphs polls, clothing thatched roofs all left in piles of rubble if they weren't turned to dust, steal framed building were liquefied like wax. Peoples clothing determined when or if they died depending on the color. Black or dark colored clothing absorbed the heat but white or lighter colors reflected it. All this shocked me because personally I would not have the heart to drop bomb that could have such a great effect.
Some of the question I have are, why did the Americans have to use a nuclear weapon cold we not defeat them on or own? Did we not think of the after affects and the thoughts we wold leave in others such as if we can't beat them let's bomb them? We gave everyone else the idea of using such a powerful weapon.
